About the founder

Skye Ray previously supported multiple NASA programs through the Softgoods Lab at Johnson Space Center. He designed and built softgoods for projects across the agency, including:

  • Thermal blanket systems for VIPER and CLPS missions

  • Survival gear for the Orion capsule

  • xEMU environmental protection garments

  • Mission critical articles for ISS, EMU, and the Commercial Crew Program.

Homeworld Systems applies this experience toward the rapid development and prototyping of aerospace softgoods systems for commercial and government spaceflight programs.

Our Process

Homeworld’s mission is to provide faster iteration cycles and broader access to specialized softgoods capabilities across both government and commercial missions.

Homeworld delivers rapid R&D support and high quality flight softgoods. Our capabilities include thermal blankets, stowage bags, analog spacesuit softgoods, and equipment covers.

We work with our clients from napkin sketch to final flight unit. We start with early mockups and CAD patterns, iterate through increasingly realistic prototypes, and build flight-like units to perfect a design before moving on to flight fabrication.

Introducing

Homeworld academy

Homeworld now offers training for softgoods technicians and designers entering the aerospace industry. Topics include fabrication techniques, CAD, patterning, MLI fabrication, sewing machine maintenance, material handling, and advanced prototyping.

Training can be procured as a week long course, or in individual units as needed. All students receive six weeks of ad hoc support (30 min per week).

We are now accepting applicants for Q1 2027.
